Here at BeNext we have put together some of the
key words that resonate across the business. With that in mind we appreciate
that our definitions are not static as the community of BeNext will help refine
these foundation points. We would
appreciate any feedback that you may have. So get in touch today and tell us
your thoughts.
Baby Boomer
The use of the term baby boomer is generally accepted throughout the developed world, as that portion of the population born between the years of 1946 and 1965. Although in Australia questions have been raised as to the suitability of adopting such a term and the corresponding birth years, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) defines the term as that segment of the population, born in Australia or overseas post World War II, between 1946 and 1965 [Australian Bureau of Statistics, 1999]

Community Value Proposition
A community value proposition is the image your
community presents to a potential community member that says, "this is a great
place to be” Its essential for any organisation, be it a community or a
company, to present itself in the most positive light to attract people. A community value proposition enhances both
emotive feelings, I want to be there, and tangible benefits, this is somewhere
I can be and values me.

Flexible work
Flexible work is a phrase that describes any working pattern adapted to suit the workers needs. Common types of flexible work are;
contracting
part time: working less than the normal hours, perhaps by working fewer days per week
flexi time: choosing when to work (there's usually a core period during which you have to work)
the shortened working week or compressed hours: working your agreed hours over fewer days
phased retirement
job sharing: sharing a job designed for one person with someone else
working from home
This list is not exhaustive and there may be other forms of flexible work that are better suited to employee and employer.

Work that matters
Gain financially, have impact and connect with the community
could be one way of looking at it.It is not our intent to be prescriptive
because what matters for one person is likely to be different to another.

Work-life balance
The separation gap between work, home and community life has narrowed, the
need to manage the stress and achieve a balance has become more relevant today
than ever before.
Work life balance is a broad concept. It is the need to prioritise and reduce
the stress between work and ambition on one hand and family,
leisure, lifestyle and spiritual development on the other. The end goal is to
achieve a harmony between these powerful drivers of a person’s life.

Meaningful work
Meaningful needn’t be the domain of those building the cornerstones of greatness or the champions of social frontiers. Many of us have stereotypes about the kinds of work that can be meaningful -- take a moment to come up with your own list. Michael Steger, Ph.D, suggest “that we all want our work to express a component of ourselves and that we want this to matter beyond our skin. It may be that our ideas about meaningful work prevent us from finding it”1
Not everyone is currently doing meaningful work and this one of the reasons why BeNext came about- providing opportunities and connections for people to find their own meaningful work.

Recruitment process outsourcing
The Recruitment Process Outsourcing Association defines RPO
as follows: "when a provider acts as a company's internal recruitment
function for a portion or all of its jobs. RPO providers manage the entire
recruiting/hiring process from job profiling through the on-boarding of the new
hire, including staff, technology, method and reporting. A properly managed RPO
will improve a company's time to hire, increase the quality of the candidate
pool, provide verifiable metrics, reduce cost and improve governmental
compliance.”2
RPO differs greatly from providers such as staffing
companies and contingent/retained search providers in that it assumes ownership
of the design and management of the recruitment process and the responsibility
of results."3
